Like your eye’s natural lens, an IOL helps you see by focusing the light that comes through the cornea and pupil. This folded lens implant is carefully placed in a cavity of the eye where it unfolds and permanently replaces the clouded natural lens. This new lens focuses light onto the retina, a light-sensitive membrane covering the back wall of the eye. The retina converts the light rays into signals that are sent through the optic nerve to the brain where they are rendered into the images we see.
